Size does matter!

When one thinks of a lion, certain words and images come to mind such as majestic, powerful, king of the jungle! So one would think that everything would quake in their presence and not want to hang around.  I was on game drive on Saturday morning and came across a lioness with her 2 young cubs.  While I was watching them with my guests, a group of rhinos came grazing along not paying any attention to the family of 3 and continued to do what rhinos do best which is munch grass.  A male rhino passed by the lioness and her cubs by only a few meters.  It was interesting to watch what the mother would do as this colossal animal came plodding along.  Instead of chasing the rhinos away, she crouched low in the grass trying to conceal herself, but not trying to hunt, just to hideaway so as not to disturb the rhinos which could have quite easily try to trample her cubs.
With the lioness crouching, head low and ears flat, the cubs mimicked her and did the same.
A lesson in life they need to know early on, not all animals you can hunt!  Size does matter.
